EuCIA, The European Composite Industry Association, provides a portal for the study of scientific, technical, economic, regulatory and institutional matters, concerning the composites industry in Europe.
CAMTeC The University of Sheffield Composites and Advanced Materials Technology Centre with Boeing was formed in 2006 following a successful £4.5 million bid by Sheffield University and aerospace giant, Boeing, to clinch a deal with regional development agency Yorkshire Forward.
CAMTeC will act as a research, design, manufacturing and technology transfer centre for composites developed for general manufacturing and aerospace applications.
Building on the existing collaboration between Boeing and the University of Sheffield, CAMTeC is expected to create a range of commercial openings for partner companies, including SMEs, in a market for composites where demand is expected to exceed supply in under two years.
In forming CAMTeC, The University of Sheffield and Boeing are creating a world-class community in the Yorkshire and Humber region, where composite design manufacture and study interact to put best practice into a wide industry base and bring business into the region.
BC - biocomposites R&D. Since 1989, BC (formerly known as the BioComposites Centre) has been at the forefront of research, development and commercial application of bio-based alternatives to synthetic materials in manufacturing. BC has recently launched a technology transfer centre. View further details here.
Classification and Qualification of Composite Materials Systems for use in the Civil Infrastructure
The purpose of this three-year UK DTI- funded project was to facilitate the better use of composite materials systems in the construction industry, by improving the guidance available for design, application and approval processes. View the project website at http://www.compclass.org
Composites in Alternative Energy: A Design and Application Guide, from composites world.com, is the fifth in a series of informative, detail-packed publications about the use of composite materials in targeted market areas. Composites in Alternative Energy takes an in-depth view of the alternative energy market, which market sectors are using composites in the greatest quantities, and the areas that are likely to grow the fastest. Interviews with part manufacturers allow readers to understand materials and processes for selected specific parts.

SIMoNET is a joint venture between industry and goverment, managed by University College London, that facilitates communication and networking between all those interested in structural integrity monitoring and non-destructive testing.
Dr John Summerscales at the Advanced Composites Manufacturing Centre, University of Plymouth has compiled a comprehensive directory of UK and Irish universities with interests in composite materials and structures
NetComposites is a unique integrated web and offline business, developing and providing knowledge on composites. Their composites industry portal provides the latest industry news, education, jobs and information. The site includes the latest news, essential information, careers, specialist composites bookshop and an online guide to composites. There's also a discussion forum to allow people to post questions and answers on composites.
The mission of the Composites Processing Association is to promote the use of composite materials to the widest market spectrum. Their website serves five principal functions:
- To act as a resource finder to enable you to source any composites industry product or service from raw materials to finished mouldings, mould tools to consultants
- To give information about composite materials and associated technical matters to those seeking knowledge about the materials themselves and how to use them
- To give information about projects currently involving CPA members
- To inform on the standards by which the industry regulates itself and controls the quality of its products on a global scale
- To tell you about the Composites Processing Association, its aims and purposes
