CAMTeC
The University of Sheffield Composites and Advanced Materials Technology Centre with Boeing was formed in 2006 following a successful £4.5 million bid by Sheffield University and aerospace giant, Boeing, to clinch a deal with regional development agency Yorkshire Forward.
CAMTeC will act as a research, design, manufacturing and technology transfer centre for composites developed for general manufacturing and aerospace applications.
Building on the existing collaboration between Boeing and the University of Sheffield, CAMTeC is expected to create a range of commercial openings for partner companies, including SMEs, in a market for composites where demand is expected to exceed supply in under two years.
In forming CAMTeC, The University of Sheffield and Boeing are creating a world-class community in the Yorkshire and Humber region, where composite design manufacture and study interact to put best practice into a wide industry base and bring business into the region.
